Taste Vouchers is an exciting program to help other businesses attract and retain high-value customers, providing campaigns which offer discount vouchers for popular destinations such as Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, and Thailand.
Praxis Interactive was approached to develop an "engine" to drive the entire Taste Voucher process, from the management of areas and organisation records within those areas, available vouchers, campaigns, and to handle the registration of customers and the automatic generation of vouchers for those customers.
Challenges involved include complex business logic to handle a variety of custom campaigns, with options for different modes of campaign expiration, fixed number and user selection of vouchers, promotional codes, CAPTCHA protection of registration forms, limits on voucher selection and total vouchers issued etc.
Registrations can also be moderated by the administrator to verify if they are legitimate, allowing the authorisation or rejection of registrations on a case-by-case basis, per campaign. A mailer facility allows for future communication with registered customers, or to advise them of changes with issued vouchers.
Vouchers themselves are generated on-the-fly as PDF documents, which presented an interesting performance challenge for the server software. Vouchers incorporate a number of features such as QR codes for verification, custom images and logos, voucher conditions, and advertisements.
